BRIDGET ANDERSON

My name is Bridget Anderson and I love being cheerful! I enjoy working with and helping people. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I love to teach about the Gospel of Jesus Christ providing hope and peace through this message.  I am currently a Sophomore studying at Brigham Young University Idaho with a major in humanities and a minor in philosophy. I love my family, dog, and friends. Along with that, I am passionate about being out in nature and learning about the wonders of the world. In my free time, I like to sing, play the piano, hike, swim, do yoga, and serve others. I have a desire to understand the world in which we live and the people who occupy it, which fuels my ambition to pursue a career in the humanities field.  I collaborated with other students to create the website Healing Through Christ to help people find peace during a troubling time. I hope that this website will bring joy, love, and light into the lives of all who find it.

EMILY BURDEN

Hello there! My name is Emily Burden. I was born and raised in a country town in Idaho. I grew up playing basketball and hiking mountains with my dad and siblings. I love all things outdoors and spending time in the water. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Melbourne, Australia. I’m currently attending Brigham Young University-Idaho completing the prerequisites for the nursing program. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I know that it’s through Him I am able to find true happiness and joy.

I have loved doing this project! There has been a lot of work that has gone into creating a website that could help someone in the future. My first impression of this project was that it seemed to be a bit overwhelming. Ever since I have been working on the essays and assignments, I have gained a testimony of connecting with others through the Internet. It is such a wonderful feeling to put your thoughts and beliefs out into the world with the hope that something you said may be able to help someone in need.

MEAGHAN EVANS

I’m Meaghan Evans and I am from San Diego, California. I grew up being an artist and learning languages. I love cold weather and gloomy days. Currently, I attend BYU-Idaho and I am double majoring in Russian and Korean and then planning on double minoring in French and ASL. Languages are my passion and I hope to live in a foreign country someday.  When I found out the topic of our project, I originally felt that I wouldn’t have much to contribute to the subject. Because I haven’t been exposed to abuse or talked about it much. This project has been very eye-opening and it also has reinforced my ability to help those around me.

MIKAH HARRICK

Hi, my name is Mikah Harrick and I was born and raised in Southern California. I am 22 years old, and I love to dance. I grew up dancing whenever and wherever. My family consists of my wonderful parents, an older sister, two younger brothers, and my golden Lab, Daisy. I have recently returned to Brigham Young University-Idaho to pursue nursing. I have a deep love for Europe. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints speaking the German language in Austria and Switzerland. It was an 18-month journey that developed and strengthened my testimony in the Savior Jesus Christ and His everlasting gospel. I am grateful for the knowledge of this truth that is the foundation for my family and life. Working on this assignment has provided me with a new perspective on the Atonement of the Savior and how we can overcome all things through Him. Abuse was a topic that I didn’t know much about, but this assignment gave me the opportunity to gain an understanding of the reality of it and how one can obtain peace and healing through forgiveness.

KATELIN JOHNSON

Hello, my name is Katelin Johnson and I am currently studying at Brigham Young University-Idaho as an English major. I enjoy learning about literature and the variety it supplies in life. I am the oldest of seven children and I come from Great Falls, Montana. I recently returned from serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gilbert, Arizona. I am grateful for the experience I gained during the 18 months spent serving on behalf of my Savior Jesus Christ. I hope to continue to help others and influence them for the better.

This project took me some time to accept and I struggled to adequately express my feelings. I felt that it was difficult to write about over a decade’s worth of negative experiences. I knew that the topic of abuse was not one that I typically chose to address on a regular basis. I think this assignment has changed my way of thinking and reacting to this subject. I realized that I have the ability to share my story with others to help them overcome the challenges that they face. I want to have a positive impact and make a difference in the lives of others.
